05/28/10: Newtec Among Nation’s First Batch of “R-5” High Performance Windows Providers
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) and the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) are co-hosting a kickoff event for the Highly Insulating R5 (U value 0.2) Windows and Low-e Storm Windows Volume Purchase Program on Thursday, May 27. The event celebrates the program participants, including more than 30 qualified vendors and 23 key partners. Proud of being one of the R-5 windows manufacturers, Newtec Windows provides a full line of R-5 products, including Double Hung, Single Hung, Casement, Sliders, Picture Windows and Sliding Doors. Newtec completed the testing process in February early this year, and now as the Program formally unleashed, Newtec is ready to serve our community. Research reveals that about 40% more energy may be saved compared to standard Energy Star logoed products, especially in cold and mixed weather areas. Newtec R-5 windows and doors have U-values ranging from 0.16 to 0.18.
03/15/10: Newtec Windows and Doors Is Now an “EPA Lead-Safe Certified Firm”
With effect from April 22, 2010, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) requires all Renovation, Repair and Painting (RRP) projects that disturb lead-based paint in homes, child care facilities, and schools built before 1978 must be certified and must follow specific work practices to prevent lead contamination. Contractor firms who intend to work in pre-1978 homes are required to register with the EPA. Both the Certified Firm registration and the Certified Renovator supervision are required under the RRP rule. When you hire a window company, you must now select an EPA Lead-Safe Certified Firm. Newtec Windows & Doors, Inc. is one of the leading window manufacturers certified by EPA (No. NAT-20512-0).
03/18/09: Newtec Passes or Exceeds New U-Factor and SHGC Requirements for $1500 Tax Credit Eligibility
Newtec fabricates quality window and door products with best available branded supplies and state-of-the-art technology. Although Newtec has been an Energy Star Partner through years, the new Economic Stimulus Package has more stringent requirements for both U-Factor and SHGC (less than or equal to 0.30). To ensure our customers to be eligible for $1500 tax credit, Newtec re-send our products immediately to NFRC for testing after President Obama issued the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Test reports show our product performances meet or exceed energy saving criteria. Some product lines include Series 600 Double Hung, Reinforced Double Hung, Horizontal Sliders, Series 1400 Casement Windows, Awning Windows, Picture Windows, Series 2100 Sliding Patio Doors, and combinations of all these products including Bay and Bow windows. Other products include tilt and turn windows and more. For more information and request for these test reports please contact us.
02/15/09:Newtec Provides Optional Triple Pane Glazed Windows
More window factories and residents are considering triple-glazed windows since the Department of Energy announced potential changes to the Energy Star Windows program. Early this year, President Obama issued a new Economic Stimulus Plan, advocating more stringent U-factor and SHGC (both less than or equal to 0.30) to be eligible up to $1500 tax credit for energy efficient windows.
These numbers would be tough to meet in Northern climates with even the best double-glazed, gas-filled low-E coated glass package. Therefore triple-glazed windows might be one approachable solution. As the name suggests rather than just two panes of glass a third is introduced to greatly further its ability to insulate the home in extremes of cold and reduce solar gain in summer.
Other than the energy saving function, triple pane glazed window significantly reduce the noise by the third pane. Installing these units into properties near major roads or airports can increase the value of the home and provide a far nicer environment for the residents. Condensation resistance can also be dramatically better than using double glazing. UV protection is another add-on to your health and the lifespan of the interior furnishings and finishes. Some customers may concern about the extra weight and cost. This should not be an issue when comparing with long term energy saving, condensation resistance and enhanced living comfort.
Newtec now provides an option of Triple-pane glazing to our window and door products. If you are thinking of energy bill, noise and all these, here is your choice.
